Mulally saga Bush Invades Blogosphere
In an age of blogging, anything can scatter like wildfire on the blogosphere. Same stories that are intended to create loud laughter could spin out of control. Nobody knows this fact well enough than Ford Motor Co. Chairman and Chief General Alan Mulally.
At the auto show in New York last Wednesday, Mulally said a mass of journalists that he intervened to prevent President Bush from possibly plugging an electrical cord into the hydrogen tank of Ford's hydrogen-electric hybrid Plug-in for the flex vehicle demonstration at the White House that took place on March 28.
"I just thought, 'Oh my God! So I started to walk faster, and President walked faster and he got the marrow before me. I violated all the protocols. I touched Chairman. I grabbed his arm and I moved to the front, "Mulally said." I wanted the President ensure it is plugged into the electricity, not in hydrogen, "he said to laughter.
A few hours after the story has been told, the same was taken by Autoblog.com. In addition, Detroit News ran an account of three paragraphs of comments Mulally Saturday in the Business Insider column. "Credit Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally to save the leader of free world of self-immolation," The New Agenda began.
Soon after, hundreds of blogs wrote about the incident and numerous links to the article on The News website, which has received over 250,000 visits. In the blogosphere, the story became fodder for comedians, conspiracy theorists, the enemies of hydrogen the Liberals who like to portray Bush clumsy like a clown.
La Maison-Blanche had little to say on the matter. "My understanding is the Ford Motor Company has clarified this issue and it is not necessary to say something else, "White House spokesman Alex Conant said. Ford officials met officials of the White House on Tuesday to apologize for the hullabaloo. They emphasized that Mulally was not trying to mock the president.
Based in London, the Financial Times newspaper wrote an account on the issue clear. "Critics of U.S. President George W. Bush should count their blessings. Dick Cheney, vice president, would have established residence in the White House now it was not for quick thinking from Alan Mulally, "wrote newspaper.
Todd Lassa, Motor Trend Detroit editor, blamed journalists and bloggers as online in an editorial Tuesday for not checking the video cons Mulally account before publishing stories. "The fact is that those who have watched a class in journalism school knows something to watch evidence, reports, and weeding that is not done, "he wrote.
In e-mail, Lassa hear: "He said what he said, and I recording to prove it, but I think we all need to back this blogmania a little, and take the time to check facts. "
Richard Hanley, assistant professor of interactive communications and director of graduate studies in journalism at Quinnipiac University, said that Once new proliferates through the Internet, "It's like a joke that went around the world. It shows the absurdity and the importance Self-inflated blogs that often undermines serious discussion of issues. "
Ford said spokesman Tom Hoyt Mulally believed that was funny and showed it a few times in internal meetings before the onset Auto Show. So when Mulally told a story New York, he picked up on the humor of the parody Kimmel and embellished the story a bit. Although Mulally lead Bush on the vehicle, the president was never in danger and Mulally did not really meant to say otherwise, "said Hoyt. "He does not think he would be taken seriously" Hoyt also stressed.
But bloggers and other users have a field day with the story of Mulally. The Democrats.com, a website partisan reported the incident under the title "Bush Near a hydrogen car turned into the Hindenburg." The Wonkette, a blog Gossip famous published this headline: "George W. Bush endorses Car Bomb. "The Huffington Post said" Bush Nearly himself explode. "
Indeed, the blogosphere is pretty hot to handle even the wind title = "Cold air intake AIRAID"> AIRAID admission cold air was not convinced.
