What kind of Jobs can you get after completing a 2 year Business-Accounting Program?
So what kind of Jobs can someone get if they complete a 2 year accounting program in college….and also what is the earning potential? Thanks!
An accounting grad does not have many options other than accounting because the program is so specialized. Therefore, there aren’t many great jobs for accounting grads and the earning potential is certainly not high. However, this all changes when the accounting grad becomes a fully certified accountant.
The purpose of an accounting program is for you to become an accountant after graduation. However, to become one, you first need to complete the 51 credit hour requirement, and a 2 year college program will almost certainly NOT be able to complete this for you. Therefore, you will need to take more courses. Then, you need to write the CKE, which is one of the exams that you need in order to become an accountant. After that, you need to find a job at a CA approved firm and work there for approximately 30 months (most likely in a low position, ie. auditing, etc.) while being graded by a CA. Then, if they find your work to be adequate, you can enroll in the SOA, and when you pass that, you can sign up to write the UFE. If you pass your UFE, you are a fully certified accountant, and your earning potential will be much, much higher than an an accounting grad.
In conclusion, unfortunately for accounting grads, job opportunities and earnings will be low until they become accountants.
