What is the best way to manage a serious mistake in applying for a job?
I applied for a job by e-mail. I had an email response back from the employer. With the volume of e-mails that I have on this account I have a bit neglected response. I thought they were not interested in me. Now, a month has elapsed. I feel like an idiot. What the best course of action now? 1. Send an e-mail to reaffirm my interest? 2. Send an e-mail apologizing for the oversight and ask to be taken into account in the future? 3. Do nothing, reapply if I see another opening?
You have absolutely nothing to lose by going with # 2. It's a matter of realism and it shows that you have been honest with them (perhaps disorganized, but hey, it happens more you realize). Make sure you stay professional note and you never know. A future work may open up and they see you, especially if you have a good report established.
