Associate degree in accounting or medical assistant?

Right now I am in my first semester on getting my associate degree in accounting but I have been thinking about changing my major to becoming a medical assistant. That is because I heard it is hard to find a job with an associate degree in accounting. And I think it would be easier to find a job being a medical assistant? But not sure too. My dad wants to start a small business. What accounting/bookkeeping software would be appropriate?

As my dad’s not overly astute in the financial management side of things, I agreed that I would help him out in that respect. I’m a year 11 Accounting student so we’ve covered most of small business bookkeeping. I’m just wondering which accounting method would be most appropriate (and which software).

Most small business cease to exist within a year which is usually good for tax avoidance, therefore I would say that minimium accounting should be required – probably the easiest and most understandable would be to build you own using the most well known Spread Sheet program (which I think most people already have loaded in their PC or laptop).
Cash flow is essential to monitor and you could plot some easy to read graphs to show progress – often more revealing than a columns of figures or pages of accounts.

As accountants have authority so they should also being controlled by an independent authority that formulate the rules and bounderies for them, in order to run the work smoothly and without misconceptions.
The worldwide governing body for accounts is “International Federation of Accountants” IFAC
and there are lot of óther local bodies of every country.

How do I transfer money from an uk account into a german account?

Hiya everyone I’ve ordered a beautiful outfit from a german company and they want me to put money into there account how do I go about it?

Hello,

(ANS) No.1 You could obviously pay by credit card if the company in question offers that facility to customers.

No.2 You could pay by wire transfer which you can arrange through your bank (but they may charge you a fee for the privilege of this process).

No.3 You could pay by Euros (as in draw the exact amount in sterling cash at your bank and then have the funds converted into a Euro cheque by your own bank) This is a good method because it ensure the safety & security of your funds.

No.4 You could pay by sending either Euro bills or German Deuchmarks bills (paper money) This is the most risky way to send funds. I have done this myself but only with low cost items I wanted to purchase in the US, you should send funds very carefully packaged and send them by swift airmail so they are insured & tracked. The post office can tell you all about how to use swift secure airmail.

I have an account with a finance company who usually report to equifax. When I refinanced this account back in february 2006 this is not reported. This is an old trade line and I need it for scoring and credit history purposes. Can anyone advise me in this situation

I agree, contact the finance company and request that they report to not only Equifax but to all three bureaus.

What is the easiest way to learn about accrual basis of accounting reporting revenues?

I am having a hard time understanding this. Anyone got an easy to understand website?

I will just give you my two cents worth on the subject at hand. It is as simple as it gets: “match the recognition of revenues with its expenses”

For example, if you sold a piece of land, which has already been paid for. However, you still have to pay the taxes and other costs associated with the sale. Because of some reason, you still have not paid the necessary expenses, but you are supposed to report your quarterly earnings already. Since those associated costs are directly connected to the sale of land, then you should accrue the costs. In short, you match the revenues with the appropriate expenses.

I’m at a fork in my educational career where I have to choose a direction. I like both aspects of finance and accounting. Which degree is more sought after by employers and which provides more entry level success? Thanks ahead of time for your thoughts…

First off let’s clear something up. Magnolia stated that “if you can’t handle accounting you do finance” that is totally
incorrect. As far as level of difficulty, I don’t know anyone in accounting that had to take 2 units of calculus. Finance is the number 1 drop out major in the business school. Because it is a very tough major. It’s very complex. Finance is the art and science of managing money Accounting is the organization of financial information.

In a large company the accountant organizes the financial info than gives it to the CFO( Chief Finance Officer) and the CFO decides how to best allocate the dollars(money management)

I will say at this point having a Accounting degree is sought after( because of the accounting scandals) more especially if you can’t get into and Ivy. If you have a finance degree from an ivy, you will be more sought after. Companies like their finance folks to come from an ivy. At least with a accounting degree you can slide into finance at a later date if you choose to or you could do the CPA exam.

Go for the Accounting degree and get the best grades possible. Do not settle for a 2.5 in Accounting, because you will not be working and if you do you won’t be for long. You have to know your stuff in accounting. try to get a 3.5 or better in you major course work and nothing less than a 3.2 3pa
